A NEWSAGENTS was broken into after raiders reversed a car through the front window of the shop.

News and Booze, in Kingshill Parade, Dursley, was raided last night after a green Mitsubishi estate car was reversed through the main front window of the shop.

Gloucestershire police spokesman Chris Jackson said: "They entered the premises and attempted to steal an ATM machine by attaching a cord to it.

"The cord snapped and the offenders were forced to escape in the car, which was driven off towards Dursley town centre. It is believed nothing was stolen."

The vehicle was later found abandoned in Green Street, Cam, just before 12pm today. It is now the subject of a forensic examination.

Anyone with any information or who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 48 of August 7.
