A LANDLORD in Thornbury is asking all his customers to get their taste buds round real ale to help raise money for the meningitis campaign.
Dave Cox, landlord at the Anchor, will be donating 4p from every pint of cask ale sold during Easter weekend to the Gazette’s meningitis appeal.
Mr Cox, who has been landlord at the Anchor for two years, has been fundraising for Meningitis UK with founder Steve Dayman for seven years and has organised many events in the past to help the charity.
He said: "I have helped with the walks they do, by either walking myself or driving kit around.
"What we decided to do this time is in conjunction with the message that meningitis can kill in four hours, so from Good Friday to the Bank Holiday Monday every pint of cask ale we sell we will donate 4p to the meningitis appeal."
The event will also mark the end of National Cask Ale Week, which has run from April 6 to 13 and promotes the importance of British pubs in the community.
Mr Cox said it was important for the whole community to join the meningitis campaign and help raise the money needed to find a vaccine.
"I’ve known Steve a long time and I know the effects of meningitis. If we raise enough money and they find a vaccine then it will all be worth it," he said.
