RESIDENTS of Wotton are preparing for a whole day of events to celebrate their town.
The ‘We Love Wotton’ celebrations have been timed to coincide with the town’s annual arts festival, which takes place from April 24 to May 3.
On April 25, the town will showcase the many clubs and societies active in the community.
"We are taking on the worldwide economic slump," said Janet Walshe, one of the organisers. "It’s being dubbed as the Wotton Weekend Love-in!
"On April 25 the whole town will be a festival of entertainment and events, providing a much needed feel-good factor to those who live there whilst inspiring other communities in the UK to generate events to bring hope to everyone in difficult times."
The events begin on Saturday, April 25 with lots of displays and demonstrations taking place in the Town Hall and Chipping Clubroom as well as other locations around the town.
Highlights of the day include the Wotton and District Silver Band who will be in Market Street between 10.30am and 12pm, and Morris Dancers who will perform in Market Street between 3.30pm and 4pm.
The festivities are expected to continue well into the evening, with live entertainment in the Town Hall starting at 7.30pm. Advance tickets are available from Novel Hovel, High Street.
