A MOTORIST who was trapped when his car was hit by a lorry walked away from the accident unscathed.
The driver, a man in his early sixties, has been described by ambulance crews as a "very lucky chap" following the crash on the A420 near Wick.
Mark Harwood, incident officer for the Great Western Ambulance Service, said: "The patient was complaining of a right-sided rib pain, but that was all.
"Considering it was a high impact collision with the lorry, he’s a very lucky chap."
The accident happened at 6.45am last Wednesday at the junction of Gorse Hill at Tog Hill. The man was driving a VW Golf and as he pulled onto the A420 he was collided, on the driver’s side, with the lorry.
Added Mr Harwood: "This is a notorious section of road for incidents, particularly at busy times when a lot of people pull out on to the A420 travelling to or from work."
Paramedics were on the scene in a few minutes. They worked with fire crews to free the driver, who was treated on scene for minor injuries then taken to Bath’s Royal United Hospital for further assessment.
The lorry driver was unhurt and no other vehicles were involved.
