PASSENGERS will soon be able to travel to the capital for £1, when a discount bus firm pulls in to South Gloucestershire.
Megabus is opening a new stop at the University of the West of England offering students and residents cheap travel to London.
The internet-based firm will open the stop at the university’s Frenchay Campus from Monday, May 18.
Operations manager Ian Laing said: "Students seem to really like megabus.com. The service is easy to book and the fares are the most competitive in the UK, starting from as little as £1 plus a 50p booking fee.
"This new stop off point gives us an exciting opportunity to extend our service so that even more people can enjoy the benefits of megabus.com"
Buses, operated by Stagecoach, will also travel to Cardiff and Newport six times a day.
University travel planner Steve Ward said: "We’re delighted to welcome megabus.com to UWE as this now means that the university’s main campus is a national travel hub for the region, connecting the main Frenchay Campus with the two capital cities of London and Cardiff as well as Newport.
"With approximately 1,400 students having home addresses in these two cities this is a real boon providing them with low cost travel.
"On top of this we will be able to offer the people of South Gloucestershire a much more convenient pick-up point for megabus.com services than having to travel into the centre of Bristol."
