A 42-YEAR-OLD man from Chipping Sodbury has become the first person in England to catch swine flu without having visited Mexico.
Barry Greatorex has been quarantined to his home with his wife and son.
It is believed he caught the virus from a work colleague who had recently visited Mexico.
He is said to be recovering well and has been given anti-viral drugs, along with his family as a precaution.
A NHS spokesman said he had no connection to a 12-year-old girl who has contracted swine flu in Downend. Downend School, which she attends, has been closed until May 11.
Health chiefs are waiting for the results of more than 600 tests nationally as the tally of confirmed cases continues to rise.
