AN EXCITING new campaign which sings Dursley's praises has been launched by local residents and businesses who feel that the town is a place everyone should be proud of.
Designs on Dursley wants to bring out the best that Dursley has to offer – the beautiful countryside, great food producers, reputable schools and one of the best pubs in Britain – by using the joint skills, talents and resources of the local community Local design company Design for Results (D4R) has already created an eye-catching logo, and there is plenty more to come.
And if you are proud to live in Dursley, Designs on Dursley wants to hear from you.
Jeremy Collins of D4R said: "Dursley has traditionally looked towards its heritage for an identity. But I believe the time is right for Dursley to look forward. The people of Dursley have a fantastic opportunity to build a bright future for our lovely Cotswold town. With this new brand and enthusiasm people from across Dursley can get involved in coming up with ideas and events that can make Dursley the place to be.
The new campaign kicks off with the annual Dursley Festival on Saturday, July 11, which this year will have a food theme as Love Food comes to town with a variety of stalls. Prepare to be entertained all day by the array of exciting things happening such as the children’s procession, a barbecue, activities on the Rec and a feast of local produce. Other attractions include a dedicated children’s area, live music and a school photography competition.
Lorna Knapman, of Love Food Festivals, said: "I’m very excited about Love Food in Dursley. It will be a fantastic day and a great opportunity to bring together some of the area's fantastic local producers in a wonderful market town setting."
Residents can get involved by helping with the festival and displaying the Designs on Dursley poster in their windows, while businesses can give their support to Designs on Dursley.
