POLICE in Yate are due to tell residents of Cambrian Drive what is being done to tackle problems of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.
In March, the Gazette reported how families wanted to move out of the area because of large groups of youths intimidating people and hurling abuse at shoppers using the One Stop Shop on Wellington Road.
The trouble reached boiling point when a parked car was set on fire in the middle of the night, although police said they did not believe groups of young people were responsible for the incident. Concerned homeowners attended a meeting of the Yate Safer, Stronger Community group in March calling for a bigger police presence in the area.
Officers will provide an update on their efforts since the incidents at the next meeting of the group on Thursday, June 4 (7.30pm).
It is being held at Brimsham Green School and information will also be provided on problems with litter and roadworks in Sundridge Park and litter and anti-social behaviour in the underpass near Abbotswood Shopping Centre.
All members of the public are welcome to the meeting to discuss issues affecting Yate.
