FIREFIGHTERS were called to a blaze at a chicken farm in Charfield last night.
Crews from both Avon Fire and Rescue and Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue attended a fire at Southend Farm, Little Bristol Lane, at 9.16pm on Monday.
Crew members, including two appliances from Yate Fire Station, tackled the blaze which had taken hold in a building used as a poultry house.
An Avon Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said: "Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"A 60-year-old man also suffered smoke inhalation and firefighters gave him oxygen therapy."
The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental ignition. The Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the building was damaged in the blaze but did not have any further information.
