LANDOWNERS are being reminded not to be complacent about security.
The warning comes after a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries at rural properties.
On Monday, July 13 at 4.15am at a property on Oldbury Lane, Thornbury, a farmer discovered a barn had been broken into and a Kawasaki quad bike had been pushed onto the driveway.
Overnight between Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 at a farm in Alveston there was an attempted burglary but nothing was stolen.
Also, overnight between Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8 at a property in Fernhill, Almondsbury a shed was forced open and a Stihl chainsaw, a Stihl stone cutter and an Echo hedge cutter were all stolen.
Sgt Craig Ogborne, of Thornbury Police Station, said: "Although there has been a decrease in rural crime recently, landowners are still being encouraged to make adequate security provision. Simple steps can reduce opportunity for thieves.
"We would advise people to use padlocks or approved ground anchors and chains to bolt items like quad bikes to the ground. Further security advice can be found on the police forces website."
