THE sky was the limit for primary schoolchildren on a visit to Brimsham Green School in Yate.
More than 150 youngsters from schools across Yate and Chipping Sodbury enjoyed kite-flying workshops at induction days this week.
Kite expert Nick James taught pupils from St Mary’s, Frome Bank, Kings Court and Rodford primary schools how to make kites as well as how to fly them.
The visitors were also given tutorials on wind turbines and how wind generators work and took part in specially-adapted lessons in English, mathematics, music and PE.
The Year 5 pupils then enjoyed a picnic in the school grounds.
Terry Dykes, head of Year 7 at Brimsham Green, said: "We are a large secondary school, with year groups bigger than the total number of pupils in many primary schools.
"By introducing future pupils to this environment at a young age, we believe transition will be much easier for them when they arrive in Year 7."
