TALENTED youngsters wowed the crowds at a street sport and music event.

The fourth Cam Scratch and Skate was a huge success with over 250 young people turning up to either take part in the sporting events or to watch and enjoy the music.

The event was bigger than ever with the usual BMX and skate action as well as lots of live bands, DJ’s and MCs, graffiti artists and family orientated activities.

Gemma Grieve, who works for the Gloucestershire Youth Service which organised the event, said it was the best Scratch and Skate yet.

"It was absolutely brilliant, definitely the busiest year yet," said Gemma, who leads Dursley youth group.

"The skaters and BMX riders were excellent, they were showing off their skills for five hours solid and the crowds really enjoyed it.

"The DJs and the bands were also excellent, we had some really good talent, in fact everyone was great."

The youth event, aimed at people aged between 11 and 25, is becoming so popular it is attracting people as far as Stroud and Wotton-under-Edge.

Organised by Gemma and a team of volunteers all under the age of 21 the event is looking set to grow and grow.

Gemma added: "Everyone has worked really hard and we get a lot of support locally so we hope it will carry on that way."

While Dursley has no youth centre children can use the youth centre in Frederick Thomas Road, Cam, open Wednesday and Thursday night between 7pm and 9pm.
