WATER BABIES of all ages took time out to celebrate the anniversary of a local landmark last Saturday.

Dursley Pool and Sports Centre held a ‘21st Birthday party’ for local people, who turned out in their droves to enjoy a fantastic day of celebrations.

The event, which took place on Saturday July 25 , included activities such as tombola, BBQ, cake stall, face painting, soak the sitter and a bouncy castle. Inside the centre, staff and visitors took part in a poolside conga and enjoyed flying down the brand new twin track inflatable.

The many children present were entertained by Dursley the Mascot and enjoyed trying out the fire engine sent along by Dursley Fire station.

Special guest Kiah Woodward had the honour of cutting the pool’s birthday cake. Kiah shares her birthday with Dursley Pool and Sports Centre and celebrated her fourth birthday on the same day.

Ray Figg, Head of Cultural Services at Stroud District Council, who attended the event said: "It’s wonderful to see so many people here celebrating the centre’s milestone birthday. I want to thank the staff for all their tremendous hard work which has made this a special day for the local community."

Josie Hampson was also announced as the winner of the key in the Door competition and is now the proud owner of a yearly pass for Dursley Pool and Sports Centre.
