MOTORISTS and bus passengers are being re-routed following the closure of a road between Yate and Rangeworthy.

Manor Road, from North Road to Wotton Road, was closed on Monday and will remain shut to traffic for between four and six weeks.

The closure is to enable a new footway to be installed along the road.

It means the 622 bus service is being diverted via Wotton Road and Yate Road to the roundabout junction with Stover Road in Yate.

On Saturdays and during off peak times, buses will continue along Iron Acton Way to resume the normal 622 route. During peak hours, services will run via Stover Road and Badminton Road to Yate.

South Gloucestershire Council is laying on a free shuttle bus during the road closure to maintain a bus link for the community of North Road. It will run twice a day from the bus stop by the junction of North Road with Tanhouse Lane to Yate Shopping Centre and back. Along North Road, the bus will run on a ‘hail and ride’ basis with the driver stopping on request where it is considered safe. Along the rest of the route to Yate Shopping Centre the bus will use bus stops as usual.

The shuttle bus is being run by Yate Community Transport. Timetable information is being displayed at relevant bus stops but for more details call 01454 228706.
