MOTORISTS and pedestrians are being warned that Long Street in Dursley is particularly dangerous with several instances of vans sliding down the street.

The road has a think layer of compacted snow, which has become very slippery and at around 11.30am this morning a van driver trying to get up the street slid back down and needed pushing to get to the top.

Businesses at the bottom of the road are finding it increasingly difficult to get deliveries in and out.

However Alun Williams, managing director of Lister Shearing in Long Street, said they are coping well considering the difficulties.

"We are coping incredibly well here. Most of the problems we are having are with Long Street. Most staff have managed to get in, however yesterday we had to push someone up the road.

"A lot of people have decided to park in the town and walk down and I think that is a sensible thing to do."
