SOUTH Gloucestershire Council has announced that rubbish collections have restarted, but only for black bins.
The council has suspended all green bin collections until the black bin backlog has been cleared.
A spokesman said: "Once the backlog of black bin collections has been cleared, green bin collections will immediately be resumed. When green bin collections are restarted, if residents have additional cardboard they may put this by the side of their green wheeled bin for collection."
The council has also said it has enough grit to see the district through the cold snap and is able to keep all primary and secondary routes open.
A spokesman said: "We have got sufficient stocks, about 2,000 tonnes, and a delivery planned for later in the month."
