OVER 200 schools in Gloucestershire have been forced to close their doors again today as heavy snow fell overnight in the county.
However any secondary schools that are closed are still going ahead with GCSE and A-Level exams for those students who are due to sit them.
The council is still rationing salt supplies and has gritted only A roads and B roads that carry 75 per cent of the county’s traffic, however Highways have said most B roads are passable with care.
Most bus services in the county have either been cancelled or reduced.
Gloucestershire County Council announced yesterday that district, town and parish councils were being given extra salt to grit pavements.
A spokesman for the authority said: "Our main concern has to be the main road network so to conserve our rock salt we're using a mix of grit and table salt purchased last year for the bins.
"We have received reports of people taking the salt from the bins and using it on private drives. It is essential for people's safety that this salt is used on the roads and public pavements so people are asked to be responsible.
"Freezing temperatures are expected to continue for at least another week so driving conditions are not likely to improve."
Those schools that have announced they are closed for today are: Blue Coat Primary, Cam Everlands Primary, Cam Hopton Primary, Cam Woodfield Infant and Junior, Cam House School, Coaley Primary, Hillesley Primary, Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School, Kingswood Primary, North Nibley Primary Rednock School, Sharpness Primary, Slimbridge Primary, Uley Primary, Vale of Berkeley College
