PROPOSALS to change the boundaries of a conservation area in Pucklechurch are due to be published next month.

Residents in the village have already been asked their views on whether the existing Pucklechurch Conservation Area should be made bigger or smaller and South Gloucestershire Council will print its own view on February 8.

Householders were sent a questionnaire in October last year asking them what they felt were the special characteristics of the conservation area and their views on the existing boundaries.

Pucklechurch became a designated conservation area in 1975 in recognition of its historical importance.

Although the site is now farmland, in Saxon times Pucklechurch formed part of the royal hunting ground of Kingswood Forest and in 946 it was the scene of the murder of King Edmund.

St Thomas a Becket Church and the Moat House and Grey House are important buildings which have been protected by their designation as a conservation area.
