POLICE are renewing their appeal for information about the fatal collision on the M5 near the Almondsbury interchange yesterday.
They want to talk to anyone who can help them trace two heavy goods vehicles that they believe hit a man. He has not yet been formally identified.
He was a lorry driver who had stopped on the southbound hard shoulder at around 7am. When he got out of his cab, police say he stumbled into the first lane and consequently was hit by one and possibly three lorries.
The driver of one has already contacted Avon and Somerset police after hearing about the incident on radio news. He has been interviewed but has not been charged.
Police say it is possible that the lorry drivers they're seeking may not be aware that they had hit the man, as it was dark.
They are asking drivers who were on that stretch of motorway, between junction 14 and 15, at the time to check their vehicles for any damage or evidence.
Other witnesses have also come forward, but police investigators still need to talk to anyone who may have seen what happened.
They are also checking CCTV pictures of the motorway to help them identify and trace vehicles that may have been involved.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0845 456 7000.
