Cam Bulldogs 3 Chalford 2
AN early rocket from Jer Coburn set up Cam for their first win in six games.
Just four minutes had elapsed when Coburn smashed Loz Dorman's pull back into the Chalford net from fully 25 yards.
The goal filled the Bulldogs with confidence and they doubled their advantage on the quarter hour.
The Chalford back line were guilty of overplaying as Ian Cheshire closed them down and the loose ball was picked up by Dorman who drew the goalkeeper and slotted home.
Cam were comfortably on top, with Chris Jones particularly impressive on his return to Northern Senior League football, but were pulled back to level-pegging in the ten minutes before half-time.
Former Forest Green Rovers man Lee Pritchard collected the ball on the left and, after a penetrative run into the area, found the net from a seemingly impossible angle.
Pritchard then capitalised on a poorly defended right-wing cross to drill a shot under Ben Jagger a minute before the break.
However, the visitors could not carry their momentum into the second half and were penned in by the Bulldogs for long periods.
But it was not until midway through the half that the home side threatened the Chalford goal.
Simon Penny had a chance for a rare goal but his header from a Dorman corner was saved at point blank range.
Cam were not to be denied from their next corner though, as Ian Cheshire turned the ball in from close range after Danny McIntosh had acrobatically volleyed the ball goalwards.
However, the Bulldogs were reduced to ten men with a little over ten minutes remaining.
Former Cam defender Paul Freeman clattered Coburn from behind and the powerful front man was dismissed for a retaliatory right hook.
Despite their numerical advantage the visitors could not find an equaliser and Cam were able to celebrate their first win since mid-January.
Afterwards Bulldogs manager Stuart Grimwood said: "It was good to get a win under our belts, especially at home."
