THE Royal Oak in Wotton-under-Edge will be rocking to the punk sounds of the seventies when it hosts a charity music night in aid of the North Nibley Romania Team on Friday, February 25.

The charity supports an impoverished psychiatric hospital in the former coal mining village of Mina-1-Mai (the Mine of the First of May) north of the city of Brasov.

There are around 150 long-term patients suffering from depression, schizophrenia, Alzheimer's Disease and other psychiatric conditions.

Each year, the charity returns to carry out projects, community work and to give continued support to these unfortunate people.

Matthew Bigwood, a volunteer with the team, said: "The charity music night will raise some much needed funds to enable us to travel to Romania to carry out some essential work in Mina-1-Mai".

The music night will consist of local live favourites Kosmik Overdrive performing 70's and 80's singalong punk covers, a disco, raffles, party games and more.
