AS a great fan of the Dursley Male Voice Choir, I always try to get over from Stroud to attend their concerts. The standard of performance and entertainment value is always first class but it amazes me that they consistently play to packed audiences - even on a dark, rainy night when International Rugby is being shown on TV!
It speaks volumes for the people of Dursley who turn out in vast numbers to listen to good music. It therefore occurred to me that some of them might be interested in the concert performances given twice a year by the Stroud Light Music Choir, some of whom join your local choirs, whenever asked, for concert performances of Gilbert and Sullivan.
Although we cannot aspire to the excellent choral singing of your menfolk - would that we had some of them in our midst! - but we do put on very successful shows, our soloists coming mainly from the Cotswolds Savoyards.
Our next performance is of The Gypsy Baron by Johann Strauss and takes place at the Stroud Subcription Rooms on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 15 and 16 at 7.30pm. Tickets can be obtained on the door or at the Tourist Information Office, Stroud Subscription Rooms.
