ENTRANTS in Dursley's annual pancake race had a flipping good time on Tuesday.
Around 20 runners, several in fancy dress, lined up with frying pans and pancakes to race up Parsonage Street and back, cheered on by shoppers who stopped to watch.
Reporter Sarah Carless won her heat and made it through to the final while Rebecca Palfrey was second in her heat.
Sarah said: "It was great fun taking part. I was really surprised to win because I wasn't planning to be really competitive. But when I was in the lead at the halfway point my competitive spirit kicked in and I couldn't let the Gazette down. I would definitely do it again."
The eventual winner was defending champion Trevor Rumbelow, of Lloyds TSB Bank, who was presented with a trophy by Dursley chamber of trade president Peter Jones. Winner of the fancy dress competition was Chas Jukes.
The event was featured on BBC's Points West and Star FM.
After the event Mr Jones said: "It is quite a fun event and raises the profile of Dursley. We raised £43 with an extra £50 from individual sponsorship which will go to the Open Door Club.
"We hope to run it again next year - it is fun for everybody."
