WORK to demolish the former Bymacks factory in Dursley started this week.
The historic listed Victoria Works site in Long Street was largely destroyed by fire in December. It was the seventh fire at the wide-spread factory site since it closed in 2003.
The site is owned by developer Crest Nicholson, which have permission to build 146 homes.
Spokeswoman for Crest Nicholson Lucy Newington Bridges told the Gazette on Wednesday: "We are looking at a demolition period of four to six months. During this time all but one building will be demolished.
"Following demolition the development of the site will go ahead. Crest Nicholson is looking forward to this first stage of important work in the regeneration of Dursley."
