GAZETTE readers are once again being asked to see if they can put names to faces from a photograph of yesteryear.
The picture was taken around 1900 and is likely to have originated from the Berkeley and Sharpness areaa.
The appeal has been made by Alex Wood, who is doing some research into the Gloucester and Sharpness pilots and whose great-great-grandfather, Thomas Price, is pictured.
Mr Wood said: "The bearded gent second from the left on the front row is Thomas Price (1835-1902) so the photo was probably taken around 1900.
"He was a Gloucester pilot and he lived at Berkeley. His claim to fame was that he was the pilot who brought the first vessel into Sharpness New Docks when they opened on November 25, 1874.
"The only other person known is John Edward Brinkworth (1866-1940), who is fourth from the left.
"John Brinkworth was also a Gloucester pilot until he became harbourmaster at the Old Docks in Sharpness."
Anyone able to help can contact Mr Wood on alexwood@blueyonder.co.uk and, of course, the Gazette would like to hear too.
