ON SATURDAY, Dursley Rugby Club's U14s squad visited Gloucester RFC.

The boys arrived at the club at 11am and were met by James Bennett, the Community Development Manager at the club.

It was then straight into 90 minutes of hard training led by Bennett and his team, Brad Davis, of Gloucester and England U21s, Rob Elloway, of Gloucester RFC, and Sophie Bennett, a club development officer.

James Bennett explained: "It's always nice to get to try a few new things with more able players. I think the sessions went very well."

After the youngsters had showered and changed they went onto the pitch at Kingsholm where they were greeted by their team name in lights on the new electronic scoreboard and a mention over the PA system.

The next part of the day involved the youngsters watching Gloucester take on Bristol Shoguns in the Powergen Cup quarter-final, a match they enjoyed immensely.

Dursley RFC U14s coach Mark Stevens said: "We left the stadium a bit damp and glowing inside from the great day we had had, the lads had really enjoyed themselves. The training was spot on, the game was a great event and the atmosphere typical of a local derby.

"I hope the day will inspire the lads as we start this year's County Cup campaign with the first game this Sunday when we entertain Thornbury at home. "Many thanks to James and his team at Gloucester Rugby Club for the experience they have given to these young players."
