ONE of Dursley's oldest residents celebrated her 103rd birthday yesterday.
Gwen Sellars, who lives at the Kinver Grange Retirement Home, was born on February 3, 1902.
She celebrated her birthday with fellow residents and staff at the home.
Gwen was born in Dublin, Ireland, but moved to Cheltenham with her mother after her father died when she was just nine months old.
She has spent most of her life looking after people, nursing her own mother by the time she was 14 and then subsequently working as a nanny, in a refuge and later as a midwife and health visitor.
During World War Two she worked in several London clinics despite the constant threat of air attacks from the Luftwaffe.
