THE POST Office in Wotton-under-Edge will be relocated successfully, Tesco has said this week.

The supermarket chain, which has taken over the running of the One Stop Shop in Long Street, says it is confident the counter will be resited soon after the store is converted into a Tesco Express.

Residents have raised concerns the counter could be lost. Relocation had been due in December but has been delayed twice while the resiting process is completed.

The new date for the counter closing is April 20, with the One Stop Shop shutting for refurbishment three days later.

Some people have also said they will boycott the store if the Post Office counter is lost.

But Tesco spokesman John Church told the Gazette this week: "The situation is that we have successfully found another premises for the post office to locate to but I cannot confirm where that is yet. We are working with the Post Office to get the transfer application approved. The relocation will take place towards the end of April."
