Patchway Town 4 Wotton Rovers 0
IN a match played in slippery conditions Wotton were boosted by the return of Mike Shaw, only to lose him within ten minutes of the start through injury. He was replaced by Jon Tegg, who himself is just back from injury.
With Steve Jackson, Owain Clement and new signing Stewart Laurens controlling the midfield, Wotton enjoyed most of the possession in the first half but were unable to create any clear-cut chances.
Just when it looked liked it was going to be 0-0 at the break a long kick by the Patchway goalkeeper was not cleared at the first attempt by the Wotton defence, resulting in a untimely slip by Eldridge in goal which gave the Patchway striker a simple tap in.
Within five minutes of the restart Wotton found themselves two down when their defence were caught sleeping from a corner, giving Patchway a free header.
From then on the game changed with Patchway becoming the stronger team and, with Wotton heads down, the home side scored two more goals.
One goal came from more bad marking and the other was a very good overhead kick. Wotton, however, had a chance to get a consolation goal at the end from the penalty spot but as Owain Clement hit the post it just about summed up Wotton's day.
L This week, Wotton travel to Roman Glass St George looking for a much-improved performance.
