FOREST Green Rovers boss Alan Lewer has strengthened his squad with the double signing of defenders Jon Beswetherick and Liam Burns on non-contract terms from Kidderminster Harriers.
Both played for Forest Green in the excellent 0-0 draw at Scarborough recently, a result which stretched Rovers' unbeaten league run to six games, before featuring in Saturday's FA Trophy clash against Aylesbury.
Beswetherick, 26, began his career at Plymouth Argyle, where he graduated through the ranks before making his league debut in 1997.
After nearly 150 appearances at Home Park, the defender turned down the offer of a new deal in favour of a move to Sheffield Wednesday. Unfortunately, his move to Hillsborough faltered and he was subsequently loaned to Swindon Town and Macclesfield. Last summer, he signed for Bristol Rovers on a short-term contract before signing for Kidderminster.
Meanwhile, Belfast-born Burns, 26, is a former Northern Ireland U21 international defender. Burns started his career at Port Vale, moving on to Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2004, where he played alongside Beswetherick, before moving on to Shrewsbury Town and then Kidderminster.
