Uley 2 Gloucester Civil Service 3
ULEY narrowly failed to upset the form book on Saturday despite taking a two-goal lead, allowing Civil Service to move into the league's top spot.
Having weathered an early onslaught, including a disallowed goal, Uley carved open the opposition's defence with a series of sharp passes, culminating in a fine low cross from Justin Troy which set up Louis Da Silva to stab the ball home from within the six-yard box.
When Troy's persistence and pace led to a defensive error and his calm finishing doubled the lead, the game looked to be Uley's for the taking.
Unfortunately, Uley's brittle confidence was shattered by a reply from Civil early in the second half, and as Uley squabbled among themselves Civil showed the class which has made them title contenders by taking full advantage to turn the game around.
Despite a late rally from Uley which led to several half chances, the highlight being a 25-yard strike from Ben Gwyer which produced a fine save, the game was lost.
