Stone-carvers Richard Bossons and James Armstrong, from Centerline Architectural Sculpture, based in Miserden, place the bud stone on top of the refurbished south-east pinnacle on the tower of St George's Church in Upper Cam on Thursday.
The work, which has included repairing and repointing some of the stonework around the top of the tower, is due to be completed in three weeks' time.
Head of the church fabric committee Bob Priest said: "Overall the total expenditure is expected to be £23,000. A quarter of this came from grants and the rest came from our fabric fund" GJA47V05
