Scarborough 0 Forest Green Rovers 0
A MORNING jaunt on the beach at Scarborough proved the ideal preparation for Alan Lewer's rejuvenated side, who gained another point in their Conference survival fight on Saturday.
Lewer took his side for a breath of fresh air on the morning of the game and his side responded with a purposeful performance that now stretches Forest Green's unbeaten run to six games.
Lewer will have been delighted with the performances of debut boys Jon Beswetherick and Liam Burns, who both slotted into a re-organised defence that was missing suspended duo Adam Garner and Darren Davies.
In difficult conditions, the Seadogs' Chris Senior forced Steve Perrin into action early on. At the other end, Ryan Williams struck straight at Leigh Walker.
However, Rovers wobbled when Senior robbed Perrin on the edge of the area, but the ball ended up back in the hands of Perrin despite the attempts of Tony Hackworth and Senior to find the net.
On the verge of half-time Scarborough should have taken the lead. Neil Redfearn's corner eluded everyone at the near post, but Paul Foot incredibly failed to connect with the ball.
Perrin then did well to deny Redfearn's free-kick after the break.
However, Rovers soon began to look threatening with the creative crossing of Beswetherick allowing Charlie Griffin to bring the best out of Walker.
Meanwhile, Williams was denied by Walker from another Beswetherick cross.
As the game drew to a close, chances petered out, but Rovers can be delighted with another great team performance
