PARISH council meetings in Kingswood could be moved following an increase in costs for lighting and heating at Kingswood Primary School, where meetings are held.
Since November, 2000, the council has paid an annual fee of £45 for ten meetings.
But the clerk has received a letter from school governors saying this will rise to £75 per year - an increase of 67 percent.
Parish councils have free access to schools to hold meetings and only pay for costs incurred.
Clerk Cath Holmes said: "The price increase is to cover the expenses for heating and lighting, but I don't think they put on any extra heating on other than what they have anyway."
Chairman Cllr Paul Hemming said: "I don't think my electricity bill has gone up 67 percent - I think it has gone down. I think it is a huge increase.
"We could go back to the Abbey Room but the problem is access and conveniences.
"I think we should contest it. If there electricity bill has gone up that much in just over four years, they are with the wrong company." The council will be writing to the governors.
