MARTIN WHITESIDE, the Green Party's prospective Parliamentary candidate for Stroud, will be in Dursley this weekend and in Cam later in the month to hear which issues people think are important.

He will also be available to answer questions and share his vision for the area.

Mr Whiteside said: "I frequently meet people who tell me we need a change before it is too late. Many have been disillusioned after voting for Labour and finding they are following Tory policies.

"The main parties once sought to make people masters of the market, but they have now all given into global capitalism. There is now so little difference between them, that it is no wonder people say there is no point in voting.

"No one now enjoys employment or retirement security. The market decides if we have a job. The gap between rich and poor grows, as uncontested rewards at the top rocket away.

"Our welfare state is slowly being eroded, with parts of our education and health services being privatised. Where are the NHS dentists? Just this week we had the news that more operations are to be contracted out to the private sector.

"The BBC and post offices are also under threat. The main parties are failing us and failing the planet.

"Another future is possible. Greens have a radically different approach. I invite people to come and help us build that future together."

Mr Whiteside will be in Parsonage Street, Dursley, between 11am and 12.30pm tomorrow and near the Co-op in Cam between the same times on Saturday, January 29.
