A TOWN reflecting Dursley's heritage and culture, a place where shoppers and tourists wish to linger and shop - this is Vale Vision's goal.

In partnership with Stroud District Council Vale Vision is commissioning a town centre design survey to establish the regeneration of Dursley, to ensure plans for the Littlecombe development and the anticipated supermarket bring benefits to traders.

Vale Vision Town Centre Group has been looking at traffic flow, parking, impact of development, as well as areas tourists would consider unattractive. The result is an action plan both for the immediate future and for the next ten years.

Other areas that have been given consideration are the car parks at the back of Parsonage Street, May Lane and the area around the Market Place, as well as attractive walkways to and from the former Lister Petter Littlecombe site.

It is envisaged that there will be heritage walks incorporating Jacob's House (formerly The Weaver's House), Water Street and The Broadwell and linking the town centre with the Littlecombe development.

Vale Vision will launch its strategic plan in May and invite everyone in the community to a presentation of plans. In the meantime it is pointing out there are ways people can help to attract tourists to the town.

Traders are being urged to look at their own premises - are they attractive to tourists?

Volunteer can offer their assistance in working with the Dursley Town Centre Group.

Views are also being sought on requirements for a multi-use community centre at the Littlecombe development. The Lister Club has expressed interest in becoming part of this scheme as it is unlikely that the Lister Hall can survive more than three years without considerable expenditure.

Please complete the following questionnaire by ticking the relevant boxes for each question and using other if you think that there is anything that has been overlooked.

People are being asked to answer the following as 'must have', 'would like' or 'do not need':
