AS a town Dursley is certainly no stranger to loud music late on a Saturday night.
However, it is usually kept within the confines of The Warehouse or Capone's - not resonating around the hills above the town.
At the weekend many of the town's residents and even some in Cam had to endure a sleepless night after what is said to have been a travellers' party was allowed to go on all the way through until Sunday morning.
However, it was not so much the incessant music that has made residents' blood boil, but the fact that the police were aware of what was going on and allowed it to continue until mid-morning.
Despite the police's council tax precept increasing by well over 50 percent in the last two years it would appear that they are still lacking funds to provide a few torches for essential night work.
Residents point to the fact that this has been a summertime problem for several years but the police seem unable to stop it.
Everyone will agree that officers should not be made to go into a potentially dangerous situation like this ill-equipped - especially when they have missiles thrown at them - but there should be a way around it in this day and age.
