SLIMBRIDGE chairman John Mack recounted the season's exploits prior to commencing the annual trophy awards at the club's presentation evening on Friday.

Mack said: "The first team had finished a highly creditable fourth place in the Hellenic Premier Division and also brought home three cups: The GFA Challenge Trophy, Hellenic Floodlit Cup and Hellenic Brian Wells Cup.

"The reserve team finished third in Stroud Division One after a sticky patch at the turn of the year and the third team, with a crop of promising youngsters, had done well to finish in ninth place in Stroud Division Four."

He went on to confirm that a lot of experience had been gained from the first season in the Hellenic Premier that, all things being equal, should stand the club in good stead for next season.

There were double award successes for skipper Andy Pritchett and Julian Freeman, the full list being:

First team players' player and Supporters' player, Andy Pritchett; Leading goalscorer (33) and manager's player, Julian Freeman; Clubman of the Year, Keith Scott; Second team players' player, James Firth; Managers' player (second team), Adam Philp; Third team players' player, Peter Jagger; Manager's Player (third team), Stephen Brown; Young Player of the year, Scott Bennett; Veteran player, Vince Distazio.

The newly inaugurated Chairman's Trophy was presented to first team manager Doug Gray.

Gray's acceptance speech was warmly applauded after his personal thanks to many in the club who had helped in all sorts of ways to make season 2003/04 a truly special one for him and everyone else involved at the club.
