A FUNDRAISER for Save the Children has rounded off a successful year for Wotton-under-Edge's Town Hall Teas.
The charity raised £271 on Sunday, bringing the total raised through the teas since May to £3,916.
Event organiser Cllr Janet Walshe said it has been a brilliant year for all the groups who have hosted the teas.
"It has been the best year so far in terms of money raised," she added. "I have not had a group who has felt holding an event has not been worthwhile. The popularity is certainly growing rather than waning."
So popular is the weekly slot that Cllr Walshe has already had ten registrations from groups wishing to host a teas next year.
"The event is very popular so I would urge anyone wanting to pick a Sunday for next year to get in touch as soon as possible," added Cllr Walshe.
The teas have been well attended by both townsfolk and visitors.
Cllr Walshe said: "I would like to thanks all the groups who made the event such a success by organising a Town Hall Teas and also everyone who came along and supported the various charitable organisations.
"For the elderly in the town the event on Sunday afternoons is always something to look forward to and we also had lots of people making special trips from places much further away."
The teas were temporarily relocated to other venues in the town while the town hall underwent major refurbishment.
Cllr Walshe said it was nice to have to hall back as the venue for the event.
"For the last few weeks, since the teas returned to the town hall, people have been saying how nice a venue it is to hold an event like the teas."
Next year's teas will kick off in May. Anyone wishing to reserve a Sunday slot is asked to contact Cllr Janet Walshe on 01453 843060.
