DURSLEY Dolphins competed in the second event of this season's MESS series on September 18. These galas are set up to involve clubs were swimmers have a limited amount of swimming time available.

Some excellent swims were produced by Dursley swimmers, with the result that Dursley were able to finish a creditable second behind Soundwell. This gala was organised by Tina Griffiths and Sue Bostock and at the pool Tina Griffith and Colette Castle organised the children.

Thanks to the parents who travelled with their children and gave very vocal support throughout the gala and to Ian Hollister the timekeeper. Two coaches, Fred Palmer and Andrew Harrison, also travelled with the children and combined to ensure that the swimmers knew the strokes that they competed in.

Victories were gained by:

Andrew Dinnage (Boys U9 1L breaststroke); Mark Richardson (Boys U13 and under 2L backstroke); Tom Castle (Boys 13 and under 2L butterfly); Chris Gee (Boys 11 and under 2L breaststroke); Michael Wenman/George Froggatt/Jack Bostock/Daniel Rose (Boys 8/9 years 4x1 Medlay relay team); Tim Hatton (Boys 10 and under 1L backstroke); Alice Wright (Girl 10 and under 1L backstroke); Charlotte Griffiths (Girls 13 and under 2L breaststroke); Naomi Billings (Girls under 11 and under 2L backstroke); Jack Bostock (Boys 9 years 1L backstroke); Annie Ashworth (Girls 9 years 1L backstroke); Tom Castle (Boys 13 and under 2L freestyle); Samuel Stokes (Boys 11 and under 2L freestyle); Brionny Lees (Girls 10 and under 2L freestyle); Jack Evans (Boys 13 and under 4x1 individual medley); Rosie Kells/Annie Ashworth/Aimee Holborrow/Rosie Kells (Girls 8/9 4x1 freestyle team); Krystal Fisher/Charlotte Griffiths/Lucy Beebee/Cerianne Partridge (Girls 13 and under 4x1 freestyle team); Samuel Stokes/Oliver Allen/Chris Gee/Adrian Teague (Boys 11 and under 4x1 freestyle team).
