SIR - How wonderful to find the Dursley news on the internet. I access it through a link on The Stroud Journal. I lived in Cam in the mid-1940s and attended school in Dursley. Now live in Salem, Oregon, USA.
In 1945 my mother, brother, and I moved to Cam from Cheltenham to stay with my aunt and uncle, Joyce and Jim Smith, prior to coming to the United States in September, 1946.
My mother, Grace Miller/Weller, married an American soldier and she lived in Colorado until her death in 1986. When I lived in Cam I was Pat Miller, and my brother was named Keith.
I remember riding the train from Cam to Dursley to attend the C of E school and walking from Cam to Dursley to attend the movies, shop, etc.
I finally had the opportunity to return to England for a visit in 1999 and it felt like coming home! I had a wonderful time visiting relatives and places I remembered from so long ago.
