THE BODY of a man found in the burnt-out shell of a converted box-van down a green lane near Kingscote has been identified as John James Hill.
Cotswold coroner Lester Maddrell heard on Wednesday that Mr Hill, also known as John James
Chelsom, had been found following a fire off the A4135 near The Hunter's
Hall, on October 13.
Paul Boak, the coroner's officer, said the 37-year-old's body had been
found in the remains of his caravanette by the emergency services.
"Police inquiries established no third party involvement," he said. ''The body was identified by dental records."
Mr Hill was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital after the blaze, Mr Maddrell
was told.
On October 14 a postnorten was carried out and a Home Office pathologist
gave the cause of death as inhalation of smoke and toxic gases.
Mr Boak said that samples of blood and urine had been taken from the body for
toxicological examination, and other samples for histological analysis.
Mr Maddrell, who was sitting in Cirencester, adjourned the inquest until a date to be fixed.
