A DECISION on the future of the former Bymacks site in Dursley will not be made for another month at least.
When Stroud District Council's development control committee met on Tuesday members voted to have a sites panel visit the area before any decision on the proposed redevelopment was made.
Chairman Cllr Mike Beard (Con, Upton St Leonards)had immediately suggested to the committee that the application should not assessed then but left until after councillors could look at the site.
The panel will visit it next week and the application will be looked at by the committee on Tuesday, November 11.
Cllr Beard invited all other members of the committee not on the panel to go along to the site as well.
The visit means derelict warehouses will remain standing for at least another month. That will cause concern to nearby residents who have seen numerous fires in the past year that have cost the taxpayer £90 each a fire appliance is called out.
Meanwhile, an application by Crest Nicholson to build 21 homes on land near Yellow Hundred Close, which had been recommended by planners for refusal, has been withdrawn.
