A BODY was discovered in a burnt-out converted box-van near Kingscote on Monday evening.
The vehicle had been parked on a lane between Kingscote Road and Horsley Road, at the edge of woods.
Firefighters, who had been called to the blaze, found the body inside.
Police were called soon after 9pm and roads around Kingscote were subsequently closed. The A4135 and B4058 were not re-opened until around 6pm on Tuesday.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation this week but police were not treating it as suspicious.
After a formal identification it was revealed that the body was that of a 37-year-old man. Police have not dislcosed his name.
The man's next of kin have been informed but as yet no date has been set for an inquest.
Sgt Colin Ford said: "The coroner has been informed. The police are appealing for any witnesses or information about this serious incident."
