THERE will be a great opportunity to see a variety of classic vehicles in action on Sunday.
The Great West Road Run, organised by Horton Historic Vehicle Club, starts from the Severn View Services at Aust at 10am. The route passes through Alveston, Latteridge, Chipping Sodbury (Kennedy Way), Old Sodbury, Petty France, Didmarton, Tetbury, Beverstone, Wotton-under-Edge and Charfield and the halfway halt at Michaelwood Services.
From there the route goes up the A38 then via Taits Hill, Dursley, Uley, Horsley, Nailsworth, Avening, Tetbury and Malmesbury to reach the finish at Kemble airfield, home of the Bristol Aero Collection museum.
Almost 100 vehicles of all makes and sizes will be taking part. Trucks cover all the famous names of times past from Austin and Bedford to Atkinson, AEC and Foden. Two particularly rare vehicles will be an American Diamond T from the 1930s and the 1920s Bristol four-tonner which is the oldest Bristol lorry still running.
From any viewing point it will probably take at least an hour for all the vehicles to pass.
The first vehicle should be at Chipping Sodbury about 10.30am, Wotton at 11.15am and Dursley about noon. They should start arriving at Kemble by about 1pm where they will be on display all afternoon outside the museum.
The Gazette apologises for inadvertently running this story last week which led to a number of people turning out expecting to see the vehicles last Sunday.
