SEPTEMBER 27 saw Dursley entertain Chippenham Golf Club hoping to reverse the four hole deficit from the away fixture but it was not to be with Dursley losing by 11 holes on the day and 15 holes overall.
Result: D Hewish/R Wilkinson halved; L Wilde/J Castle lost 4 down; K King/P Marfell halved; D Robinson/M Langford lost 2 down; L Bennett/G Pointing lost 1 down; J Tarr/P Simpson lost 4 down.
Canons Court Golf Club
INVITATION Day was stableford betterball won by a lady pairing of Rosie Bleazard and guest with 56 points. Second were Chris Paget and Caroline Stokes.

The club hosted the Glos four ball pairs final which consisted of two pairings from each of the seven clubs that members played in the league. Having lost in the final of the league last month they were hopeful of some success in this event. In windy conditions the pairings playing better ball stableford played very well and got first and third. 1 Paul Bennett/Alan Parnell, (Canons Court) 44pts; 2 Henry Campbell/Clive Winward (Thornbury) 43pts; 3 Vernon Chappell/Kevin Curtis, (Canons Court) 40pts.
Stinchcombe Hill Golf Club
WEDNESDAY, October 1: Midweek Medal; results - Division One: 1st Neil Glastonbury 81-14=67, 2nd Pete King 79-9=70, 3rd Tom Mann 82-11-71. Division Two: 1st Brian Cook 93-25=68 on back nine, 2nd John Barnfield 87-19=68, 3rd Dave Harries 91-22=69.
On Saturday the second leg of the Stinchcombe Challenge took place. This is the fixture between Stinchcombe Hill and Dursley golf clubs. Stinchcombe held a 4-2 advantage from the first game earlier in the season which meant another 2 1/2 points would secure the trophy. Fortunately for Stinchcombe they got off to a flying start winning the first four games, therefore regaining the trophy and winning the match 5-1.
Results (Stinchcombe names first): Owen Mason & Mark Cole beat Derek Hewish & Mark Hicks 4&3; Neil Tocknell & Brian Moulder beat Dave Lanfear & Eric Wilkins one up; Rich Brown & Rich Lamper beat Pete Marfell & John Castle 4&2; Steve Sweet & Andy Smith beat Mike Langford & Andy Brown 2&1; Pete King & Nick Pitcher lost to Ken King & Dave Robinson one down; Tim Cleverley & Tony Withers beat Roger Cooper & Sandy Jack 3&2. Overall result: Stinchcombe Hill GC 9, Dursley GC 3.
Seniors' Section Stableford competition results; Division One: 1 T Ruther 39pts, 2 A Aldridge 38, 3 J Cox 37. Division Two: 1 R Moulder 44pts, 2 D Bainbridge 38, 3 B Elliott 37.
Seniors' captain Alan Uglow chose to support the charity Rukba, The Royal United Kingdom Beneficent Association, who help elderly people stay independent. From fund-raising events over the year, culminating in a four-ball better-ball Stableford pairs competition, £1,000 has been donated to the charity.
Results: 1 David Solomons & Chris Wright 44pts; 2 C Donovan & T Dakin (Bath GC) 43; 3 Geoff Reynolds & Gerry Barnfield 42; 4 Graham Williams & Peter May 42. Don Bull won nearest the pin and John Hindshaw the longest drive.
Cotswold Edge Golf Club
SENIORS: Don Griffiths Cup. The Don Griffiths Trophy was decided with the playing of the seniors' September medal.
The winner is the person who has scored the best five rounds in the seniors' medal throughout the year. The winner, Pete Richards, just got home with a nett 358, followed by Mac Smith with a nett 359.
Results: 1st P J Richards nett 358, 2nd M S Smith 359, 3rd S Fairman 362.
October Medal: Darren Chapman, whose golf has been fairly consistent through the summer, shot an excellent gross 73, nett 68, to win Division One, with Mike Chappenden second with a nett 69. Division Two was won by K Vick with a low nett of 66, followed by J Skuse with a nett 67; and Division Three was won with a very low score of nett 63 by J T McKenzie, followed by M Seabrook with a nett 65. The lowest gross was scored by Darren Chapman, with a gross 73.
Results: Lowest gross D Chapman 73. Division One: 1st D Chapman 73-5=68, 2nd M Chappenden 81-12=69, 3rd R Poole 81-11=70. Division Two: 1st K Vick 83-17=66, 2nd J Skuse 84-17=67, 3rd M McConville 85-15=70. Division Three: 1st J T McKenzie 86-23=63, 2nd M Seabrook 91-26=65, 3rd A Mitchell 87-19=68.
Mayor's Shield: Barry Roberts and Graham Woodlands came up with the exact receipt, when they gelled together to score an exceptional nett 60 to win the trophy, with Mark Harris and Guy Nolder second with a nett 62.
Results: 1st B Roberts and G Woodlands nett 60; 2nd M Harris and G Nolder nett 62; 3rd P Holland and G Glossop nett 63.
October Midweek Medal: Ian McKay scored a gross 75, nett 70, to win, with Mike Chappenden second also on nett 70, but he was beaten on a countback. John Morton-Cox came in third with a nett 71.
Results: 1st I McKay 75-5=70, 2nd M Chappenden 82-12=70, 3rd J Morton-Cox 85-14=71.
Ladies v Minchinhampton. The last of the friendly matches for the season was played at the Minchinhampton Golf Club New Course, and on a reasonably fine day Cotswold Edge Ladies lost their match by 4 1/2-1/2.
Results: Angela Ryan & Lin Smart lost to Margaret Riley & Dot Sanders; Anna Blackler & Pam Stanley lost to Janet Carter & Marie Morea; Gill Polley & Marina Parks lost to Marion Baker & Ann Chapple; Pat Dunn & Lin Stares lost to Dorothy Hexter & Sue Lynch; Michelle Craker & Di Streatfield halved with Dawn Scrafton & Sheila Lloyd.
Ladies' Daily Mail Foursomes: Karen Reeves and Mary Brealey nett 67 1/2.
