A DURSLEY man who claims the bedroom window of his eight-year-old son may have been shot at with an air rifle has spoken of his anger at the lack of police response to the incident.

Alan Rose, of Blackboys, Kingshill, has suffered several attacks of criminal damage on his house since the start of the year.

Last Wednesday night his porch window was smashed but he later discovered a hole in his son's window.

"We have had the fence kicked in and a bollard put through the fence," he said. "But this looks like my son's bedroom window has been shot at. He is eight years old and there is a three-year-old in the next door room - it is a serious situation."

Mr Rose said that after discovering the hole in the window, he reported the situation to police on Tuesday.

"I cannot believe the police refused to even send anybody out to us," he said. "We wanted someone to come and check if the window had been shot. We pay an huge amount of our rates to the police and we are not getting the service we are paying for."

Sgt Phil Mohamed said a record of the incident had been made.

"As the incident was not reported at the time, there was no reason for us to attend to gather evidence," he said. "We will assess the situation as a whole but obviously the fact a weapon may have been involved means it is a serious situation. We will deal with the problem by means of increased patrols."

Sgt Mohamed added police went to the Kingshill area on Monday night to deal with a series of five or six incidents.

"We are aware of a disorder problem in the Kingshill area, which is centred on a number of families," he said. "We have a number of options available to us to deal with disorder and could also look to impose anti-social behaviour orders.
