CHIPPING Sodbury Golf Club has produced a book to celebrate the club's centenary.
The unique publication contains articles on just about every aspect of the golf club, as well as interesting pieces regarding Chipping Sodbury, local sports clubs, performing arts clubs, rotary clubs and prominent local industries, all of which have been involved with the golf club at one time or another.
Also documented is the definitive history of the golf club itself, which has actually played on four different courses in its 100-year history.
Articles have been contributed by a wide range of local writers, including historian Jim Elsworth.
The book is to be distributed to 25,000 homes and businesses in the Yate and Sodbury region.
Because the book is a limited edition with no further reprints planned, the club has asked that should any recipients decide that they do not wish to keep their book (which is issued free of charge) they forward it to a location which will benefit from having extra copies.
These include the Chipping Sodbury Tourist Information Centre and the Yate Heritage Centre.
The distribution is set to begin today, while the book was launched at a special party at the club last week where the special guests included former Gloucestershire and England cricket star Jack Russell.
