I AM fed up with the constant correspondence about Frenchay/Southmead Hospitals.
I came to live in Thornbury 29 years ago. I was brought up in South Wales and still have family there. Thirty years ago a new purpose-built teaching hospital was built on the outskirts of Cardiff at the Heath. Approximately 10 years ago a new hospital was built in Bridgend, the Princess of Wales. About two years ago a new hospital was opened in Llantrisant, the Royal Glamorgan.
All three are new hospitals with adjacent parking that serve their localities well and all within the space of about 20 miles.
Living near Bristol, served by the filthy BRI, Southmead where one spends more time finding a car parking space than visiting, or Frenchay where one needs to take a compass to navigate one's way around it's rabbit warrens must be like living in a third world country!
Come on South Glos. Wake up! Let's call for a new purpose-built hospital close to motorway links like the new hospital at Swindon, and make a phone call to Barratt or such like to knock down our old hospitals and use the land for residential purposes.
