DRUGS with a potential street value of £60,000 have been seized in South Gloucestershire.
Police based at Chipping Sodbury have seized what they believe to be a major haul of cocaine following the arrest of a man in Yate.
The 18-year-old was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon after police stopped his car.
Following a search was conducted in custody, the teenager was further arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of drugs.
During a search of his home in Filton, police found a large quantity of what is believed to be uncut cocaine.
Also seized were two large bags, about the size of cushions, containing what is believed to be cannabis bush and two imitation handguns along with blank ammunition.
A 20-year-old man at the same address was also arrested and other items found support police suspicions that the he was dealing in this Class A drug.
Both men are currently being held at Staple Hill police station.
Acting Insp Andy McIlrath, from Chipping Sodbury sector, said: "At present we believe we have seized a significant quantity of cocaine which was destined to be distributed in the Chipping Sodbury and Yate area.
"At present we believe it is uncut cocaine and would have a conservative estimated value of £60,000.
"This will have a significant impact in the distribution of Class A drugs in this area and was a result of some excellent work by the officers at Chipping Sodbury."
